Hello my fellow book lovers! It’s time to discuss which February book releases I am looking forward to! As usual, I don’t including sequels of series I haven’t started yet, even when I’m looking forward to reading them someday.
These are in order of publication date. When you click on the book’s title, you will be brought to the Goodreads page.
Considering The Hate U Give is such a best-seller, it’s safe to say On the Come Up will be on many readers’ most anticipated releases lists. Angie Thomas’ second novel is a tribute to hip-hop and I love that the cover matches her debut!
release date: February 5th
It’s no secret I love hard-hitting literature and The Weight of Our Sky sounds right up my alley. This historical fiction debut is set during the 1969 race riots in Malaysia. The main character has OCD. The synopsis includes the following trigger warnings: racism, graphic violence, on-page death, OCD and anxiety triggers.
release date: February 5th
This cover is absolutely GORGEOUS! The colour scheme is perfection! The Hundred Wells of Salaga is historical fiction set in pre-colonial Ghana.
release date: February 5th
Because of my love for Piecing Me Together, Watch Us Rise is one of my most anticipated 2019 book releases! One of the MC’s is called Chelsea and it’s set to be released the day before my birthday, so I really hope I’m going to love this book 😀
release date: February 12th
Described as The Mothers meets An American Marriage, The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls is a debut novel written by a Black author. Though An American Marriage wasn’t one of my favourite reads of 2018, I still want to read more literary fiction and I like that this novel focusses on three sisters.
release date: February 19th
Queer Latinx characters?! Sign me up! I don’t tend to like many romances, but a F/F forbidden love one?! I’m so excited! This debut is the first book in a YA fantasy trilogy and I really hope this won’t disappoint.
release date: February 26th

I’m so looking forward to On The Come Up. I read the first five chapters and wanted to keep reading. I preordered the eBook so I’ll have it on release day.
